OVERY STAITHE SAILING CLUB MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON SUNDAY JANUARY 8TH 2006 AT 11.OOam IN THE BURNHAM OVERY VILLAGE HALL. The Commodore, Chris Geering, opened the meeting at 1 I .00am with 26 members and I junior (Max Deakin) present. Apologies were received from:- D Edwards, R Archer, G Goakes, D Briggs, P lonides, W Pritchard, P Smith, A Parry, R Warner, M Hall-Smith, I Mackechnie-Jarvis, J & C Mulholland, A Turner. Minutes of the 2005 AGM had been circulated to all members. Paul Goakes proposed and Jerry Clark seconded that they be approved, which was agreed unanimously. In the Commodore's report he thanked Mel and Peter Beck and their helpers for organising the Prize Giving and Supper held the previous evening. He also thanked the Members and Committee for organising the Summer events, especially the "Fleet Review" Exhibition and Dance; all the proceeds going to various local charities and the Jubilee Trust for disabled sailors. The Club also made great efforts to get local school children interested in Trafalgar 200 by teaching some sailing and encouraging them to take part in the Exhibition in the Village Hall. The Club also gave £500 for the hire of coaches to take the children to the "Time & Tide" and Nelson Museum at Great Yarmouth and the younger children to the "Sea Life" centre at Hunstanton. The Commodore finished his report by offering good wishes to Alex Scoles on his forthcoming trip to the OK championships in Australia. He also expressed sadness at the loss of three Club Members in the past year; Priscilla Cornwall-Jones, John Heffer and Jack Goodley. The Treasurer presented the 2005 accounts, Ben Goakes proposed that they be accepted and was seconded by Jerry Clark, all approved. He thanked Stan Walford for all his help with the typing and printing. Election of Officers. The Commodore said that after five years he would stand down and retired from the chair. P Goakes proposed Jerry Clark for Commodore and was seconded by David Cooper, There being no other nominations Jerry Ckark was elected as Commodore. The new Commodore took the chair and thanked Chris for a very good and exciting term of office. Simon Dawes proposed Owin Bentley as Vice Commodore, seconded by David Cooper, all agreed. Peter Beck was re-elected unanimously as Treasurer/Secretary. The Committee will be :- T Campbell-Gray, C Geering, B Goakes, A Scoles, A Storer, C Wathes and Ashley Deakin. _ - Harbour Trust reps will be C Geering and S Bell. Paul Goakes asked if "average points" could be given to people (OOD & Safety Boat Crew) if they miss taking part in a qualifying race for overall points Thanks were offered to David Cooper for preparing and keeping up to date the Club Web site, which has been commended by members of other Clubs. The Commodore will prepare a rota for OOD and Safety Boat duties which will be displayed on the notice board. An up to date address list for members will be available. A Club Disco will be held on August 26`s. The meeting closed at 11.40.
